Bible Lesson 9/22/17

BIBLE, REALITY, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE


Reality:

Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see (Isaiah 42).

patriarch--Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee (Genesis 13).

prophet--As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever (Psalms 125).

faith--We walk by faith, not by sight (II Corinthians 5).

understanding--And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself (Luke 24).

vision--This spiritual consciousness is therefore a present possibility (Eddy, 1906, p. 574).

Bible Lesson 9/17/17

BIBLE, MATTER, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE


Matter:

Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value] (Colossians 3; AMP).

grass--All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.  The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away (I Peter 1).

Goliath--And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine (I Samuel 17).

riches--Faith should enlarge its borders and strengthen its base by resting upon Spirit instead of matter (Eddy, 1906, p. 430).

health--Science denies all disease, heals the sick, overthrows false evidence, and refutes materialistic logic (Eddy, 1906, p. 120).

triumph--From beginning to end, the Scriptures are full of accounts of the triumph of Spirit, Mind, over matter (Eddy, 1906, p. 139).

word--We speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual (I Corinthians 2).

Bible Lesson 9/10/17

BIBLE, SUBSTANCE, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE


Substance:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding (Proverbs 3).

Hezekiah--Godliness with contentment is great gain (I Timothy 6).

Joash--So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it (II Chronicles 24).

Jesus--Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal (Matthew 6).

treasure--Ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance (Hebrews 10).

faith--And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost (Acts 13).

glory--Ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; . . . that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God (Ephesians 3).

Bible Lesson 9/3/17

BIBLE, MAN, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE


Man:

I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty (II Corinthians 6).

servant--This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise (Isaiah 43).

image--When spiritual being is understood in all its perfection, continuity, and might, then shall man be found in God's image (Eddy, 1906, p. 325).

masculine & feminine--Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person (I Samuel 25).

perfection--Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals (Eddy, 1906, p. 476).

gift--In every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge (I Corinthians 1).

woman--And they shall call them , The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD:  and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken (Isaiah 62).

man--And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land (Isaiah 32).
